Getting Back Those Lost, Missing Chunks of Time

By Kathy Broady MSW 39 Comments

Many dissociative trauma survivors have issues with time. Sometimes the past sneaks up into the present.  Sometimes the present disappears.  Sometimes there are two time zones (or more) occurring at the same time.  Sometimes there are huge gaps in time.  Sometimes time stands still.   It can be confusing to say the least. Have you ever had a flashback from some year gone by overwhelm your current … [Read more...]

Using the Internal Landscape to Address Dissociative System Issues

By Kathy Broady MSW 8 Comments

As I’ve said over and over in this blog, internal communication -- people within the DID system talking to each other -- is absolutely central and crucial to the healing process.  The inside parts need to hear each other, talk to each other, see each other, write to each other, etc.  The more you all talk amongst yourselves, the better your healing journey will progress. Addressing and finding problem issues as … [Read more...]

Using Collage as a Way of Communicating

By Kathy Broady MSW 14 Comments

Creating a collage is another way of allowing your internal system parts to tell more about themselves. Pictures can be a powerful way of communicating.  And a collage - a collection of pictures - can tell a lifetime of stories. Most trauma survivors were repeatedly told by their abusers, "Do not tell". Violence, threats, abuse, and pain often accompanied these rules.  How many times did you hear "don't say … [Read more...]

Working with Cult – RA – Mind Control and Extreme Torture and Abuse

By Kathy Broady MSW 40 Comments

"Have you worked with clients that have 'extreme torture' trauma history in cult-RA and/or mind-control (governmental experiments)? If so, what has worked?"       Thanks for the question.  What a doozy!!!   Yes, I have worked with trauma survivors that have talked about extreme torture, cult / RA abuse, mind control and governmental experiment traumas.  Bunches of clients through the years have … [Read more...]
