Kathy from Discussing Dissociation (MSW, clinical social worker)

Hello Everyone,

As I’ve mentioned in other blog posts, I am mid-process of writing a variety of eBooks and workbooks about Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID/MPD)and other topics related to Dissociative Disorders as a whole.  I may also expand this into creating posters, cards, and other items as well.

I would really be thrilled to include some artwork created by dissociative trauma survivors — Artwork that shows DID in all sorts of settings, with all kinds of Inside perspectives.

Artwork SHOWS and ILLUSTRATES DID in a way that words cannot explain.  A picture truly does equal a thousand words, and I could not begin to teach and educate about the depths of DID without the use of artwork.

As you know, DID is just how life is for a dissociative someone, so I’m not looking for a specific topic at this point in time — there will be many, many topics covered in the eBooks.  I will need a very large selection of artwork — dozens, even hundreds of different pictures.  I want to be able to illustrate whatever point I am discussing at the time.  Mostly, for right now, I’m simply discussing dissociation.

Discussing Dissociation, right?!  🙂

Anyway…  at this point in time, my request is for free, voluntary donations.  I am not purchasing your art at this moment.  You keep the ownership and copyright to your artwork.  I am asking if there are any volunteers who are willing to share their art, and to give me permission to print it or copy it in the eBooks and workbooks that are being written for the purposes of educating people about Dissociative Identity Disorder, how to live with Dissociative Identity Disorder, how to support survivors who have DID, etc.  Your artwork will be used to help educate hundreds of people and to increase the awareness of dissociative disorders.

Several of you have already submitted artwork that has been presented in blog articles.  If you are open to my using any of your artwork for the eBooks, please let me know.

Your legal name will not be required for the eBooks, but yes, your legal name can be attached to the artwork IF you prefer that.  If your privacy matters more, and if you chose to use a pen name instead, or your system nickname, or your blog name, those options are also okay.  If you prefer to donate anonymously, in terms of how the eBook appears to the public, that is also okay.  However, between you and I, I will still need your written permission, of course.

If I select your artwork donation to use in any of my eBooks, we will complete a more official contract and formal agreement at that point in time.

If selected, your artwork will be used for display, reproduction, and sale by Discussing Dissociation.

Please understand that I cannot promise to use all the Artwork donations that I receive.

For right now, I need time to figure out how to best approach this process so that we are all protected properly.

And to give you all time to think, create, and make united system decisions, I’m sending out this idea for all of you to consider for awhile.

Please have a look at your artwork, and as you are creating new pieces of art, think about this possibility as well.

If you are interested, please let me know.

Thank you in advance.

Kathy
