Thank you for listening to Part 1 of this Podcast Interview with Kathy Broady, hosted by Hannah Kebbede of TAASTTA . The conclusion of that interview is now available as well.
TAASTTA — Trauma Awareness and Support Through the Arts.
Are you ready to hear Part 2 of that interview?
Encouraging trauma survivors to find healing through the arts
Part II on Discussing Dissociation with Kathy
In this second half of the interview, you will hear about topics such as:
- Knowing your triggers
- Finding patterns in triggers
- Listening for the pain
- Pain and feelings behind rage
- Figuring out what triggers intense feelings and why
- Reacting to negative comments from others
- Not absorbing verbal abuse as truth about you
- Three main keys for healing for dissociative survivors
- Healing for the whole system
- Understanding about time differences, then from now
- Making new, healthier, safer choices as an adult
- Learning you are not bad
- Neglect
- Taking care of yourself as an adult
- Having the courage to look at your trauma
- Expressing yourself through art
These topics, while mentioned in the conversation, can be addressed in much more depth. There is no way in the world to talk about it all in a short amount of time. SO……
When you listen to this interview, what questions come to your mind?
Could you relate to any portion of this podcast?

gracie, we agree with you about the scary music! Don’t like scary things at all, especially when they suddenly happen! We read some posts before listening to the podcasts, so we were prepared.
Kathy, you were great in the podcasts! We didn’t hear any nerves, just brief, thoughtful pauses for you to gather your thoughts.
i had a stutter, then a lisp when i was very young so we don’t like public speaking at all! Microphones scare us! We tend to fumble over words and forget completely how to pronounce them, so we feel stupid. To see someone who doesn’t appear to be frightened to talk in public, is refreshing.
Unfortunately we hear now in the head, “You’re trying to get too much attention again!”
we’re not
the first one was good… and hard to listen at same time…
i wanted to hear your voice more…
we like hearing your voice…
the first one had scary music, does this one too?

(very scared to post this- first time to respond- not sure why now… is it ok to post? we not be in trouble?)
I’m happy to ready you post we enjoy ready everyone thoughts. Baby listens to Kathy ever night. She likes her voice as well. Kathy has 2 story she reads.
Hi 4 +me+2me,
Thank you for letting your little one, Baby, listen to my voice every night! Wow — that says a lot to me about how safe and comforted you feel when you hear me talking to you. That’s great — and it tells me I certainly need to do more stories! Little ones like safe routines, so letting Baby get to hold tight to something comforting for her is very good. 🙂
That’s very sweet. Thanks for sharing that with me.
Warmly,
Kathy
we want more stors to kathy plese

Hi hi hi gracie!
It’s so good to see you here, and thank you for being brave enough to post your very first comment! That’s wonderful, and I’m glad to see it. You’ve done very well, and it’s absolutely okay, and you are most certainly not in any trouble. I know you’ve been reading here for awhile, (and thank you for that), so I think it’s extra good to see that you are able to make your first comment. Well done!
You are so sweet to wanna hear my funny ol’ voice more (and all my goofy ways of saying stuff — I’m listening to the podcast right now, and I just heard myself saying the phrase “find clever-er words” hahahaha. Does making words up count as a “clever-er” word ?!!!) I’m so very glad that you find my ways of talking comforting for you. I’m going to be doing more podcasts and making more videos, so… hopefully, your options of what to listen to will grow. 🙂
This second part — it still has some of her music (that’s TAASTTA’s music choice, not mine!). Those are unusual music choices, I agree. I know that Hannah originally came from Ethiopia, and I just had to assume some of her music preferences were related to her cultural background. I’m not sure. I do know that TAASTTA promotes drumming for healing. They are very supportive of using music in healing. But of course, we all have different preferences for what kind of music we like.
Thanks for your comment, gracie. It’s good to hear from you.
Warmly,
Kathy
Oh-oh! That might be another one of my parts… all Sunshine’s and rainbows. Time will tell.
lol, Naturluvr — I was just SURE you already had someone named: All Sunshine’s and Rainbows! With all your fun, boisterous energy, there are surely some happy parts in your group. If not… maybe one day, but… I have heard some smiles coming from within you, I’m just sure of it.
It would be wonderful to see ALL of your insiders get to experience some sunshine and rainbows so no matter what, I hope more of your system gets to join in on the fun stuff.
Like today — I hope you have a sunshine and rainbow day today!
Warmly,
Kathy
we thot you did good kathy
Thank you, mindy. I need more practice answering hard questions. Usually I’m the one ASKING the hard questions. But it was fun to do. I hope it was helpful!
Thanks for listening!
Kathy
