Thank you, everyone, for continuing to read this blog.
I have been doing a fair bit of travelling this year (in 2012), and have been away from the internet for long chunks of time. I am constantly amazed, when I get a chance to sit back at Discussing Dissociation blog, to see how many readers there continue to be.
Wow!
Y’all are something else because once again, we have had a new “highest number of views” day a few weeks ago, and 2012 has proven to be, by far, the busiest reading year yet. Thank you!
I am hopeful and pleased to see that this blog is continuing to be a good resource for those of you wanting to learn more about Dissociative Disorders, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and various trauma related issues.
I’ve just approved a whole pile of wonderful comments that have been sitting here waiting for me…. Sorry for the delay, everyone. I do like to hear what you have to say. Thank you for your comments – they truly are much appreciated. It is a real joy to see when you all post comments back and forth to each other. I think that is excellent.
I have been thinking that some day soon, I should join the rest of the modern world and get one of those iPad type things, or a phone with internet on it, or some fancy device that lets me stay more connected to the internet no matter where I am. I’ve been slow to do that…. However, coming here, and seeing that you all have been continuing to read encourages me to stay involved.
I do have more stories to tell, of course.
And I have more opinions about things, of course.
And I can see that I have some questions to answer, of course.
And you know I have more questions to ask, of course!
I hope you are having a better day than you expected to be having….
Sending warm thoughts your way,
Kathy

Well done on joining the tech herd Kathy 😉 Sorry to hear it was a bit of an ordeal, but i have to say you should probably expect that if you go with crapple again HAHAHA. Better off to go with a laptop in my books. easier to use, easier to type on and far easier to set up hahaha. Oh and if you get stuck again, try a local council library. Every town has one and they have internet you can use. the bigger city ones will likely have wireless but others will have standard 🙂 if you’re a member you get 30mins free per day if not its only a couple of bucks per hour or so. Enough to get you out of a predicament that’s for sure 🙂 Can’t wait to hear your latest thoughts!
Lol, Weebs!! I had to go read this old article again to see what you were talking about! It was written way back in 2012, lol. And I did get an iPad back then, and my laptop broke (at some point back then), so get this…. For most of the past 4 years, I’ve used only an iPad to write on this blog! NOT a great idea, lol. Very, very tedious, lol. And then yes… Eventually I found some public libraries and did exactly what you suggested, when I could. 🙂
The good news is…. A few weeks ago, I finally got a laptop again. Yay!! Blogging is so much easier now!!
Sometimes the simplest things are the biggest things!
Thanks for the fun comment. 🙂
Warmly,
Kathy
:O it is that old??? thats so random, coz it only just popped up on your facebook account now! so i thought it was new :/ Also i commented on another one yesterday about what would we like to know about DID that’s not on this blog… not sure if thats an old one too but i put my 2c in and it actually publically showed my email addres… i tried to kill it but i dont know if i was successful… i also emailed you about it while i was panicking last night hahahahah
typing on an ipad for a whole blog would be so tedious, i dont have the patience lol. Glad you got a lappy again though and sorted out all the net issues 🙂
Hey Weebs,
I added a new picture to that old blog yesterday (based on looking at the title, but I didn’t read the whole thing), and I think by “updating” the article itself, it got automatically sent through FaceBook, etc. Technology gets me again!!! ha ha ha!
Yes, doing an entire blog, (with pictures!) with ONLY an iPad was massively tedious, but it’s what I had, and it would often take me an entire day, or two, to post a blog, but I was determined to do it!!
This little refurbished laptop feels like a real luxury…. 🙂 It doesn’t take much to amuse me. A few pretty trees, a few cool animals, and a “lappy”, and I’m all good to go. 🙂
I think we sorted our your email panic too. It’s all good. And yes, privacy is definitely important, and yes, the other blog article was brand new from yesterday. 🙂
Thanks for reading — I like your spunk!!
Warmly,
Kathy
There are some things I think would be helpful to hear your views on… Like;Christmas. I don`t know about others, but it is an incredibly difficult time for me/us. For many reasons. It is hugely triggering, as is the obligatory break in therapy.
Another thing I`d like to see discussed is communication. I was an elective mute for quite some time as a child. I still find speaking incredibly difficult, especially speaking about memories. Writing about it is often just so,so hard. Somehow seeing it in black+white, or hearing myself say it is making it more `real`.Often, I really don`t know what words to use (which I think was an aim of those involved in RA) to describe what happened once I psych mysef up to say it in therapy….no words are there.
am i the only one who has parts that really struggle with the absences here and have ones that feel abandoned after the forum? I have parts that can’t let go of the blog and who check it compulsively all the time. There are ones who can’t seem to let go of this blog and ones that find it really hard to trust it now. When I try to leave a comment I feel lots of stuff . I understand in the real world there’s probably very good reasons for the absences but still inside there’s been a lot of hurt feelings. I think I relied too heavily on this place. I still want to be here but I am struggling. Iused to have peoople i i would talk to but they all wnt away
Poor kathy 🙁 evreything gets so complkatid for you speshally with tecnoligy. I hope evrething be working now.
HI Kathy Broady!!!! 😀

IPs
Hi IPs!!
It’s good to hear from you.
I hope you are doing well.
I’m thinking of you, and wishing you the best.
Warmly,
Kathy
See, theres yet another vote for an iPad. Theyre the best. The rest are just knock-offs 😉 M.
I no kafy you can ask santa for a ipad cuz he can bring you 1 for crismas how bot that,?
You can do everything on the ipad! An iphone is good too, same thing really, but if its a bigger screen your after, then the ipads great and does the job…way better than any tablet!
Amy
lol, thanks for the ipad votes. And guess what… I finally did it!
I’m still learning how to use this funny little thing, but I have joined the ever growing crowd of tablet users. So far, it’s good!
And those of you that know me… of course, there are more stories about how my belief that “Technology is allergic to me” came true yet again. Most people can (apparently??) get their Ipad configured quickly and easily. It took me 24 hours, numerous frustrating phone calls, and a trip back to the store before I got mine working, lol. Of course!!
Hopefully this will help me to stay more connected and involved with this blog. And to y’all. Let’s hope so anyway. 🙂
Kathy
giggles, 24 hours? What did you do, blow it up? LMAO…seriously, what was wrong with it? At least you are making me laugh! Thanks, glad you finally bought one, that might mean more blogging, yes? Possibly? Pretty please, smiles
Amy
Well…. lol. Apparently you need to have wifi in order to configure your wifi. And why it took so long, and so many phone calls to put that little tidbit together, I don’t know.
And you can’t use the free wifi at MickeyD’s to configure your wifi either, because you can’t actually agree to their policies until you have your own wifi, so that doesn’t work — it says you can sign on, but you can’t. (I tried that more than a few times, lol.)
And, well… I cannot speak for the variety of technical consultants that I spoke to over the phone during the process. I lost count for how many of those folks I spoke with, but finally, the 8th? 9th? 10th? person realized what the problem was. And then I just had to find a place that would let me get onto their wifi.
And not having wifi, and not using it before in this fashion, I didn’t know where to go to find said wifi, lol. It’s not like there are road signs that show you were to go. And when you don’t have internet to look it up, it gets a little tricky!
In the end, I decided that the lovely red-headed salesman who sold me this thing could configure it for me, so huffing and puffing back to the store I went. I didn’t have my receipts with me, but fortunately, he was there, and seeing my distraught and frazzled state, he quickly assisted me, and had everything fixed and working with just a few clicks. I have not a single clue what he did, but he made it work, so I was finally a happy camper. 🙂
So yep, 24 hours later…. I could finally sign on and see a working internet, lol.
Here’s hoping for much better internet days in the future!
🙂
